Scheme works in both ways of connecting C3 and C4.60ms. delay is better for mineral soil . Good  discrimination is only possible with the use of  search Head with two coil  -transmitter  and receiver.

C3 and the C4- correct connection

Hi fff. As I understand your correction, C3 and C4 are not connected to -V, as on PCB?

Hi WM6. Correction: C3 and C4 to -V is right, see once again the scheme. But fff said it was all one.

Hi fff. Can you put the scheme with the connection of search head with two-coil transmitter and receiver?

WM6, it is time for you to stop using MONOCOIL (even in pinpointers:-)

Till discrimination was not 100% at full detecting depth, I am not interesting in any other coil than mono.

Mono has many advantages over other design in first line lightweight, then wider possibilities of design targeting different coil parameters. Don't worry, I made enough other designs that I known potential of different coil design, in short: not worth the trouble and pain in elbow. Proven in praxis.

Maybe in theory it is different, but I left this problem to theory, to dispute it.

The picture shows the only way to display the type of metal with one coil. Strobe pulses may be more .Discrimination not always true.Detector is PI tip.

Thanks for tip fff.

Question 1: T2 is 80-200usec from flyback start or from T1/S1 end?

Question 2: Do you think to implement proposed discrimination solution in your SBG-PI schematic and how?

Sascho, please show how seems the output of preamp with separate induction balanced TX and RX coils because WM6 keeps to insist that the MONOCOIL is useful and delivers enough depth. I don't believe that he have tested a PI with IB coils, because he can't draw the decay curve. Wink
