Yup you are right dude to the south of me Grin Xavier set me straight on it, he said coil resistance should be at least 2 ohms.  I have a nice little 8"er that measures out at 391 uH and 3.63 ohms that I'm going to give a try once I get my DBP up and running.

Great , that will save you from losing a power transistor . I will post the link about making fast pulse induction coils . Fast means it is a coil that will work with any circuit that is capable of a pulse delay setting of 8 to 10 us[micro-seconds] . I think the Delta pulse is faster than the DBP-2010 . The faster the pulse delay the more sensitive to smaller grains of gold . So winding a good PI search-coil is very important .

Hear Hear Eugene I've been braking my B#@$ trying to get people to understand that you cant just use any coil (would be nice though)  Smiley not only will the transistor get hot but your power consumption goes up mind you the stronger field will help that's why you have to find the not to high not to low resistance of the coil and the correct wire gauge.

Dosantoz Hi I have been told that it will work fine with 11 turns of wire however the original coil was 8 turns of wire for a 1m x 1m as for the resistance I can't help you nor for the inductance so I guess that you will have to play around with it a bit on the other hand it's possible that Eugene or GD have that info for you

Regards Xavier

Xavier , I never said you can use just any coil for the DBP-2010 !!!  DC resistance and the inductance value must be correct for the DBP-2010 to work perfectly !!

Hear , Hear means I know that you have been working very hard on this project Xavier !!!
I will check my files from years ago and see what the search coil specifications were for each of the different sizes [diameters] used .
Best Regards............Eugene

Ooops Eugene I think that there is a misunderstanding there I NEVER  said that you  or GD or Cornelius for that matter said that any coil could be used I am merely referring to some write ups that I have come across on here and other sites that state " will work with almost any coil " what they are saying is that you can use all sorts of different size coils on the machine (with the same characteristics) but not any coil and I have bumped my head on a few occasions with type of miss interpretation.

Best Regards
Xavier

Xavier , do not worry everything is cool . I did read on other electronic project sites  that the DBP-2010 can be a bear to get going properly in comparison to the Delta Pulse , so you are not alone . The DBP-2010 is like a wo*an during mood swings , be very careful if you push the buttons wrong !!   Shocked  Your almost done with the project .  Great

I ordered some new IC's I think that either the 4066 or 4017 is giving me all the up hill that I'm getting I should be getting them by Wednesday any how in the mean time I'm getting a new board ready.

Regards Xavier
