I collect any old currency. Today my Dad was going through some of his stuff and found these and some two dollar bills. He bought them at a bank where a friend of his worked when the Government recalled them back in the 1950's I think. He split them equally between me and my other two brothers. This was my share.

Those are things of beauty.   I remember my parents exchanging some of their silver certificates for silver coins (when we still had such things, but when we already knew they were going the way of the dinosaurs).   I also remember occassionally getting a silver certificate as payment at the first or second hotel job I had out of college (late 70's).  Too bad we can no longer trade our paper money for real money

BA Sad

i trade paper currency, except for the star note there not worth anything, and would be a very hard sell. alot of things go into grading and none of those look AU or better. the book you want is by whitmans official red book called united states paper money second edition ira friedberg. the book is the standard. i can look any note up if you have a question. You want too see what a real $2 bill that is worth some money......

I have a couple silver certificates in my coin collection, haven't looked at it for a long time. Think they aren't in as good a shape as yours.

A Hamilton 2 dollar bill thats really something. Wonder what I can get out of my Clinton 3 dollar bills???  Shocked Wink Grin

Wise In 1862 with the new release of federal money to pay the soldiers and government, Lincoln wanted to release the three dollar bill also to go with the one and two, measures were taken on the one and two to show there would be a three, but it didnt come to pass. there is a highlighted circle on the two and one if you look at the bills close, the three isnt highlighted though. ill put a pic of my $1 1862 first legal tendar $1
