hello,
i am new to this area of this site. i happen to collect large notes from 1861 to 1929. Can someone tell me how people treasure hunt for this particular item. i have always bought mine from dealers/collectors? My favorite is the 1890 Treasure Notes Series! Rider

If you're going to be looking for the old notes, you probably want to concentrate on caches, especially small caches.   It wasn't unusual for people to stash cash in old tobacco tins (even found a couple my grandpa had some cash in).   So you want to look for places in and around old homesites and businesses where people might have hidden small sums of cash thinking it would be safe there, but easily retrievable.   Also if you get permission to hunt inside a building, keep an eye out for books and for convenient cracks in the walls.  (To get an idea of the range of places you could search, watch a few episodes of "If Walls Could Talk")

thanks for the advice, i cannot believe i didn't even put the two together. I guess i am always thinking coins, forgot people use to hid money in tim cans and bury them. i am going to have to get another setting for my garrett that reads cans instead of treasure chests!

Well I know of two old men around here that would hide their money in two totaly different ways. One would put his money in used soup cans and then place the soup can into another the seal it kinda or he would put his money in jars. The other man hid his money by sealing it in bags and then putting it concrete blocks about 8 inches sqaure and 2 to 3 inches thick. The funny this is, they both were do it to stop their wives from getting it. lol.  There are some of these concrete blocks that are still out there, because the man stated in his will, how much money there was in total and they only found about half of that amount.
I once was a collector too, here are a few of my former pieces.
