I'm in upstate New York, but am in Wilmington NC every few months.

Supposedly the shops around there say people metal detect around there & at the beaches, but I've never seen anyone but myself hitting the sand early through midday.

Cheers,  Great

Hello,

Not sure about that National sea shore rule, as what I read & take from any so called beach laws are that anywhere from the low tide to the high tide mark is public property and actually under the law from those tide marks, no one can own any part of that privately and thus should be fine to search the way I read the findings.
Wise

But in this day & age were living, they can say whatever they want and it's up to us to fight the issue in court. So in all reality, the city, state or federal halls usually win.

I'd research that more if I were you but hey I know they have it posted, it's just I think the posting is illegal. There's guys on youtube that detect Hatteras southward and northward and all points in between and upload videos to youtube all the time, and have never had any trouble they say.

Cheers & good hunting!

LOL,
 Hello

Yes I know they have that rule posted there along Hatteras and I guess I would obey them, but I just can't stand areas posting that rule. I just wanted to see what you thought about it, and the truth is I would check into it and the legality of it, but as we know City Hall so to speak always wins those fights 99% of the time.

I think I remember reading a couple years ago, that some of the guys really enjoy Buxton or Kittyhawk areas, even Kill Devil hills has yelled some pretty nice finds I remember reading and seeing on Youtube.

Good luck to you in the areas you hunt & I hope you hit some great finds!  Great

Cheers

thanks i'm pretty sure the finds you where seeing where from kittyhawk and kill devil hills and nags head it's totally legal there i live on on hatteras they have been looking for the lost colony down here and have found some things from about 1585 to 1600 there getting close i think to finding them if they were here one group comes from bristol england to dig, in 1999 they found a gold ring that belongs to the kendal family and is either from the 1585 voyage or from the 1587 voyage which is the lost colony.
