Go Up Go Down

[worms]First of all G'day From Australia.

A mate of mine wanted to go fossiking for nuggets and asked me to design him a metal detector.  I read up about them on the web and decided to build a Pinpointer BFO type to start with.  Well it works great but it is very clumsy to use in a confined space.  So the next one was based on a 'drop of the Q' of a tuned circuit.  This was fine - it was small and could easily get into a small hole but the range was limited to about 3 cm.  The next one I build will be based on the VLF type of unit.  I have been getting more familiar with terminology and circuits.  While all this was going on I also started to design a VLF type of discriminator and search head as the prime detector.  Unfortunately I got too enthusiastic and potted the coils before I had tuned/cancelled them.  I only have 3 months before I am due to go up to the Golden Triangle so I had better get a move on. I will keep you posted.

Welcome from New Mexico.    Jump on in and join the crew.

Are you familiar with the SilverDog Store?  He offers Excellent Well Documented kits at better then a fair price.
You can go Bonkers with the amount of information available on this forum or the Geotech forums.  I've  bought kits from him never
having any problems. He even provides knobs for the pots.

Again Welcome and waiting for your post.
