On your older machine, often the electrolytic capacitors age and swell up a little causing instability. Also, if that model has a battery tray as many older machines did, clean the contacts and see if that helps.
Where do you live? If you need the capacitors replaced, any tech can do it as long as they are careful not to break any of the wires. They get brittle too.
