I'm a newbie and would love to hear any input concerning the Florida Panhandle; particularly Pensacola and Appalachicola.  I am a history nut and very interested in the Tristan de Luna expedition and also Panton and Leslie of Pensacola and Appalachicola.   My MD friend has found lots of things over the years in Ft. Walton and Destin, but nothing historical.  I do have a fine pewter mug that was found in Destin about ten years ago by construction workers.  It's Scottish and dates in the late 1700's.  I would love to know how it got here.  It was found on the sound side in Choctawahatchee Bay and not on the Gulf side.  I do know that pirates would go up into the bay where the larger ships couldn't go.  No one would ever give up their mug unless the circumstance was dire.

Welcome to the Forum.  Tons of stuff was going on back in the days in Florida.  Spent three years on the East side of Florida but know nothing about your side.  I'm sure we have folks that can come up with some info for you.  Have you done any research on this stuff ?

A quick GooGle and there must be months of winter Reading here:
