I'd be careful buying off eBay, many out of production chips are counterfeit.

Never once had a bad one or a counterfeit and I have been buying on eBay for 30+ years. More than 7000 parts ordered over those years.

If you are worried, think about this. Silicon sold over here is no longer made here. Too expensive. Guess where they get chips these days? Yep. China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The same parts.

Let's try not to start a panic over a non-issue, sndchaser.

I order Butt Loads of chines parts all the time.  Never had issues with one exception.  Some of the Caps and Resistors from the REALLY Discounted outlets are on the fence with Tolerance.  Always In just close some times.   Never had issues with IC's or any other Semi Conductors.

Homefire, as tolerances go, 10% is a pretty big swing. Makes it hard ro figure out sometimes with larger capacitance parts.

Yes it is ..  Trying to come up with a Accurate Voltage divider even with one percent it's best to brake out the old DVM and go through the pile.

Ok pounce on me for giving a friendly warning.  GD, Have you never gotten any counterfeit chips because everything was genuine or because you're too ignorant to recognize a fake?  Any EE with half a brain is aware of the serious issues of counterfeit electronic components.  But I'm glad everything has been working out for you, because all the serious engineers buy their parts on eBay.

I also like how you've been shopping on eBay for 30 years, well before they existed.

I didn't "pounce" on you. You want pounce? Stand by.

I simply said you are not completely correct. As to being an EE, I have 50+ years of that under my belt (now semi-retired) with a dozen or so patents in the field. Pick on someone your own size. You have been warned. Wink

I suggest we shake hands and move on. Bigger fish, and all, on this forum.
