Jon, if you do a search on Ace 250 using the Advanced Search function at the top of the page and search the entire forum you'll find loads of stuff written by members about the 250 including some tips and tricks that you will find very valuable.   Most of it will be in one of the following 3 areas: /Metal Detecting/Beginners  ,  Metal Detecting/Metal Detecting in General , or in Metal Detecting/MetSpecific Brands & Reviews/Garrett.   You'll also find information on the Ace 250 in Beach & Shallow Water (since there is a debate about how well it handles wet sand).

The Garret ACE 250 is one of the most sold detectors Garret has.

There is a reason for that.

The only thing I wish they did was put a dang volume control on the beast.

For what it is and the price it's a hell of a machine.
