Bomber's answer is honest.....what constitutes "good" treasures depends upon who is doing the hunting. It also depends upon how you define the surrounding area---for instance, do you consider Grants or Socorro or Las Vegas, NM to be in the surrounding area?
In my opinion, there are lots of treasures worth searching for just in Bernalillo county, but you're going to have to spend some time searching and finding leads for most of them by reading the old memoirs and the old newspapers......And if you are only interested in the ready made already published in the periodicals and books legendary tales, then there are a lot of those in the Albuquerque area also, including:
Alameda mission church bells, chalice, etc buried during the Pueblo revolt in the 1680's
A gold deposit near the old Supper Club in Tijeras Canyon
Outlaw loot buried by Billy Coe just outside of Albuquerque (possibly in ABQ now)
Several lost treasures in both the Sandias and the Manzanos
A fortune buried under a wagon wheel in a bend of the Rio Grande near old town
And that doesn't even begin to touch the buried fortunes of the 20th century---especially those involving vice and other forms of corruption.
