There are some very nice coins there....Is it just me, but are there some non-US, non-Canadian coins in the mix?   Really looking forward to seeing the scouting stuff.   When I was in scouts, it was tradition in my troop for the mother to get the small metal pin corresponding to the rank, each time her son advanced (sort of a recognition of how important parental support was).

Hi BA,
Yes there are about 4/5 Brit silver coins there, I always get a chuckle out of finding British coins here in Canada, being a Britt myself makes me wonder, one particular coin the English 3d piece I never ever found one when I lived in England but found one here go figure.......HH  Johnnn

You never know for sure what you'll turn up until it pops out of the ground.   That's part of what makes this an exciting hobby

Great finds. Looks like quite a few silver coins....mercs, barbers, and impressive BS badges. What type metals are in the English coins?

HI Iron horse,
I have many English silver coins that I found when I lived in the UK, any silver coin that is pre-1920 is pure silver there-after they were de-based by alloying with copper that had something to do with the value of silver at the time, another silver coin I found here from England is a 1827 "Groat"
which is a four penny piece it has a hole drilled through the top and was probably a keep-sake.       HH   Johnnn

Congratulations again and very interesting. The US silver content in coins was reduced in the '60's I believe. I have never dug up a British coin, however, my son recieved some in change ... while he traveled in Canada. I'll have to check with him on what denominations and dates.
