the tech's of the forum will jump in,
but i think 4 ohms resistance its not an open circuit.
more like the TX has less turns and thicker wire.

sorry to confuse you
"the open coil is the TX at ~4 ohms."

is referencing the fact that I should be seeing ~4 ohms. It is wide open.
I would guess that it is a mfg defect internal to the coil housing (a bad solder connection that finally let go) as that is where the wires connect and there is no way that they can break due to use there, and I have not used it much at all. It is not at the connector end.

I guess it would be under warranty if I were the original owner.

I think so, but what will an open circuit measure?

An open circuit means you have a broken wire. Can you take the connector apart where it connects to your box?

It would measure Open.  LOL  Unless they put a capacitor in those.  I don't think Tesoro did that but I do not know that coil.  What connector pins are you measuring ?

It would never measure open because the signal strength would be far to small if it was going through a capacitor. An open circuit on a Tesoro means a broken wire.

He can send the coil to Tesoro, ask them to test it and if it is bad, buy a new one. Not that terribly expensive.

Nickel. Thanks for posting the Info. I filed it away for future use. I noticed your .2 document was blank.

I received the new coil today. FYI
The Tx coil (1-3) measures 4 ohms and the Rx coil (2-4) measures 97 ohms. The old one still measures ∞ ohms on the Tx coil. Since it is garbage anyway, I guess I will cut the wire close to the coil just to verify it is a mfg defect with an open inside the coil. I will be surprised if it is a break in the wire.

I have not connected it yet, but what is in the coil is purely a coil, no series capacitance, so both coils will read the specified resistance.
Since this isn't the std concentric coil, the Rx resistance is different than the original concentric one. It is a Tesoro for the Tejon, so I guess it is right.
