When I use strip board, I find it easier to draw it on paper first so I  know where to cut the strips and place jumpers.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

I do all my work on strip board first but component placement is vary important and that's what takes me the longest time, when all is working like it should I burn a PCB for my project, nice thing about strip board is you can always fix things up.

I use perfboard for the same reason. Have you built the pinpointer yet or started on it?

Yes well the one that I'm using is also perforated not like the old boards that only had strips of copper at the back.
