Hi all, I have a very basic understanding of electronics, but capable soldering and following directions haha.

I was wondering about coils.  The information I see on the forum leaves me confused, there are references to different coil requirements for different machines? Am I missing a sticky, or a post somewhere that breaks down the requirements?  Anyone feel like educating a noob?

I want to build a couple additional coils for an old White's Silver Eagle.  I got it with an 8", but would like a 10 or 11 as well.  Is it possible to DIY a coil of comparable quality as the $100.00 used units, for less than that cost? If not, are there coil builds that while being expensive, are worth the cost and effort?

Thanks, the more I can digest, the faster I'll get it.

I am starting to get the principal, two oscillating coils one as a reference plus the search coil.

Appreciate the info!

In your case it's a TX coil and a RX coil.  Need to find what Impedance , Resistance and if there is a Cap in the coil.   I looked around and not found any info at this time.
