Agreed,

My next detector will be another Whites unit not a Minelab.

Minelabs was bought over by Codan some time ago and they've contracted manufacturing to Plexus, an American company. 2 Plexus plants in Penang, Malaysia are handling the OEM manufacturing of the detectors. In that respect, perhaps one can loosely say that Minelab detectors are "AMERICAN MADE"? Wink

Sorry but American owned and made over seas ain't quite the same as Made in the USA , and codan is still an Aussie company and I use to not buy anything else but it's all about the money now being an Australian it burns my butt to see our products and jobs go over seas , to me Minelab where the only detecters ,and i was wrong!!! ,and if thats not enough they then helped/backed a higher import tax on other detecter companies in order to reduce the compition and thats wrong . People like whites are still American owned and made and alot more besides, who or what or why i dont know but i've spent a fortune on their stuff, but i would'nt spit on them if they were dyin of thurst

Yeah, well that's globalization for ya. Even small items like toothpaste and sweets are increasingly manufactured in cheaper places like Vietnam and Thailand, effectively causing loss of jobs in my own country.

On a tangent, I've noticed an increase in Minelab sellers at

, and some of them look rather dodgy (prices are too low, incomplete addresses in company profile, phone numbers with area codes that do not correspond with the purported location of the company etc). Anyone wanting to save money by buying from such sellers should write to Minelab first and ask for a list of authorized distributors/agents. I smell scam.

I have been reading a lot lately about Bootleg minelab GP units with a bunch of junk electric components inside of a real shell and bogus orange WOT coils being sold on the internet.

As I have said before,I'm guilty of buying from kellyco ( which don't get me wrong,I'm all about a USA company or any other from making a profit.
But kellyco pushes junk like the Cobra and Nokta and others...OKM etc on the newbee AND I THINK FALSE ADVERTISING IS WRONG!).

Kellyco has a good deal over the TRUE dealer.....BS you pretty much don't need but looks really good as a freebee,Oh and NO TAXES if your not from Florida but kellyco could careless if you master your detector or for that matter ever use it.

It's all about SALES!

Along with other scammers on the internet.

Ok,I admit I'm on a tangent....Sorry....My point is this If you want to get the most out of your hard earned money and get the detector that you have desired for whatever reason, pay the extra few dollars and buy from your local dealer.

They will educate you on everything you need to know about your detector and will usually help you every step of the way to master it.

All you need to do is ask.

Please note,I'm not a dealer just a hobbyist.

I'm no one.

But The future of this endever for those with the desire to persue it is about education and honesty.

The worst thing that this hobby needs is for someone to buy a bootleg product that doesn't work or from a company that doesn't care about your success and throw the whole hobby in the trash because of it.
