Whites GoldMaster II, Fisher Gold Bug II, Minelab Explorer II and Tesoro Treasure Mate

Since being duped on the purchase of a Tesoro Eldorado (thanks to PayPal I will get my money back), I have come across a Minelab Explorer II for what I consider to be a very reasonable price. I would like to get some opinions on performance and ease of use. One question I do have is that since it has such a range of frequencies, would it perform as well as my White's GM II for nugget shooting? Also, if I am not mistaken, they often sell in the $600 range correct? I really would like to get a second coin/relic detector so friends or family can join me.

Thanks

Sean
Also, how well do they pinpoint? How 'bout accessories?

According to their manual the unit transmits from 1.5khz to 100khz in 28 frequencies simultaneously. You can bet they are all harmonics of each other so the coil will work with them all. I'd say that covers the most common frequencies used by all the top models with the exception of the 300khz machines which are used for detecting needles, tiny metal shards and pins in candy and other food.

Again, according to their manual, pinpointing is a breeze. I have no reason to distrust their manuals having found Minelab to be very honest and accurate in their descriptions and instructions. Now as to their business practices, that's a horse of a different color.

Hi,
I have an Explorer 2.
One of the best detectors EVER made.
Very popular in Australia for gold hunting apparently.
Acessories are interchangeable right across the explorer range (also coils from the quattro)
600 sounds about right for one in good condition.
If you can get it cheaper don't hang around!
The "learning curve" is a little steep.... but well worth the effort!

Thanks Paul. I am curious as to how it will perform nugget shooting, or if there is a program for that. I am actually getting it for 360 with an Excelerator 16.5" coil EQ2.

Peace

Sean

Pretty sure there will be a program for that!
I uploaded a few progs a while back, I think they are still there.
I've got a Pdf file of the manual for the explorer 2 if you need it........
 Detecting
BTW - The little 5 inch coil from Excelerator is absolutely fantastic on these.

I am in the hunt for a 5 incher. I am working over 60 hours this week, so I think I can get one on the next check. Sunray Probe is on my list too. I am able to get the pdf file from minelab, but would like some programs.

Thanks

Sean
