Hello to all,

I was planning on getting a new Minelab Sovereign Gt.

I was looking at the after market coils Excelerator 10x14'' and Excelorator 15x14'' DD Butterfly.

Kellyco advertises these coils as being able to get twice the depth over using the stock 10'' coil and that one could expect a depth of 15-20''?

I trust very little that Kellyco advertises.
To me they are '' all about the sale'' and have no interest in wether or not you'll be able to learn or use whatever they sell you.
I have noticed a good number of detectors for sale on eBay that more or less say'' used only a handfull of times purchased from kellyco comes with original box and warranty.

But their over inflated ads are fun to read sometimes.

Like the time that they were advertising that the ''NEW" Minelab Explorer could tell you the date of a coin if you understood what the meter was telling you.

When I buy prefer to buy my equipment from independent dealers even if the cost is a little higher.

I would be planning to use the sovereign mainly on California Beach's in both dry and wet sand.

Any input on these after market coils using with a sovereign or any that you know that might be better would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What I can tell you is that "excelerator" coils are good.......very good.
Doubtful it would give "twice the depth" but it will give a useful increase over the standard coil.
I have one of their little 5" coils for my explorer II - it's unbeatable on trashy sites!

Hi
In europe a lot off people use the s.e.f. butterfly coils on the e-trac and sovereign machines.
For me I use the 10 x 12 and the 6 x 8 on my e-trac and a 10 x 12 on my elite.
the bigger s.e.f coils are to heavy for me and don't get any dept advantage.
My favorite one is the small 8 x 6 because the roman and celtic fields have a lot off iron, and has a great dept for a
small coil.
If you like it big and light you could go for the orange wot 15 inch or a 12 inch sunray.
Good luck and regards from Holland
Gerrit

Thanks,

I was unaware that they made them that small,I have only seen the larger coils advertised.

Hello from california,

Thanks for your input and suggestions.

As far as weight goes I'm a bodybuilder and I actually enjoy the added workout on my 5-10 mile walks in the sand when I go detecting.

I'm looking for depth and as much balance as I can get.

Do you think the orange wot 15 inch or a 12 inch sunray can go as deep as the Excelerator 10x14'' or Excelorator 15x14'' DD Butterfly ciols?

I know that there are larger coils out there for depth but a 15x14 or even a 15'' coil is probably as large as I would want to use in a public area.

Thanks

Hi
In my point off view and expierence the bigger coils up to 15 inch do not go any deeper on small objects, for the bigger objects, only meaby.
If you have public sites that are iron invested, forget about the bigger coils, use the standard one or smaller like the s.e.f. 6 x 8.
As far as i know, they dont make the small ones for the sovereign type detectors.
A lot off people use a wot 15 inch on the sovereign machines butt mostly for beach hunting.
I would say take the wot 15 inch iff you go for the bigger ones.
Regards
Gerrit

Hi
The coiltek wot or ?Wild Orange Thing? is proven to be the best for the beach.
Its a very good set up in combination with the sovereign type detectors like the gt.
Good luck and regarts

Great Hi from North-East' French

                                                      Hello Hello Hello
I' m live in the country's name "Les Vôsges" ,a land with some littles mountains ..So i'm a detectorist armed with the Minelab safari ..
I'm used the coil "excellerator sef" 14*10 " (35*25cm) ,i've just a very little more depth on the (goods&bads) targets composed with foil ,gold & others métals who have a medium's conductivity ,so i think i've got between 10% & 20 % more depth in this targets with my coil sef
Off course..! You bet.!to take 2 more depth with the sef-coil ,than the origine's minelab-coil ,it's maybe not Mad Hello just only with a big size's target .!
A size's measure in feet.!! lol  Amen ..
But with the targets who have a higher conductivity or realy poor in iron ,i' have a depth more (with sef-coil) than the  minelab's coil DD 10,5 inch ,
& I' take more depth ,so I' can "win" 33% more ,on silver or copper' coins .. Detecting

The must is there is no lose in the discrimination & the detect' of the little'size Smiley targets . For remember i've got the Safari FBS ..

Thaks for yours reads .. (i think i need some practises & trainings with my English..?! What are you think about this last words..?)
