Howdy, broad_river.

        Welcome to THunting.com.
Personally I use a Garrett or a White's, but part of that has to do with what was available at the price I was willing to spend when I purchased my detectors.   I'm sure some Minelab users will be by soon, but I can tell you that the posts I've read here and the users I've talked to in the field seem to like them once they get the hang of 'em.
You don't say whether this is your first detector purchase or not.   If not, what machines have you used before, and what are you mainly going to use the Xterra for and what type of location do you plan on doing most of your hunting in?

BA in AZ

My previous metal detector by most would be considered a toy..it was a bounty hunter from walmart..not sure the exact model, but it was a trash monster...Im trying to stay in the 500-700 range..closer to 600.00 if possible..I dont anticipate another purchase until I find enough coins or relics to pay for this one.My main use will be for coin/relic hunting..I have no need for a gold nugget finder..my area of oklahoma is not a gold area..Right now the arkansas river is so low,you can literally walk on the sand banks in the center of the river..a great area to start with I think..I hope this gives a bit more detail of my needs at this time...and thank you for your responce..I could use any advice..
