Go Up Go Down

A few months ago there was a post asking for information about MDs such as schematics.  I asked if the OP had any info in this old RS simple, toy-like unit.  Going back I haven't found a reply and since the server crashed, I'm not sure I can find the OP.
However, I did manage to take some pictures and if anyone was motivated enough, the circuit could be traced from the pictures.

I have better pictures of the parts for resistor values if anyone wants them.
Regards, Steve

Hmmm.  I don't remember anything in the coil.  It was opened, I think it just fell open.  You can see the white plastic screws I put in to hold it closed, yet allow re-opening it.  I'll add a pix of the inside of it when I get a chance.  It works ok for finding lot markers and simple stuff, but it is crude.  Too many other hobby inerests to get serious.  I was hoping someone had the Skizmat'.
No good reason, just curious how it worked.  I'm an EE and could possibly figure it out from the circuit.

I dissected one of those years ago.

Two coils and mine did have a single transistor circuit within the coil.

Induction Balance was the scheme.

What a hoot!

Care to give a brief explanation of that method, or a link to one?
Regards, Steve

Sir:

Did you ever retrieve any literature... owners manual etc. related to this detector? I ask because I have 1 of 2 remaining from when my wife bought them for our kids when they were young... 15 years ago. My e-mail address is brucewj1955@yahoo.com if you might consider selling me copies of any manuals you've come across over the years.

Thanks for your time,
Bruce Jennings
