Another reason I am using the Nanos, is because they only cost about the same as a the chip on them, they ready to go out of the box. Just program. Also they have a USB chip on them . Just plug them into the USB on your PC and program. I am not using the standard resistor damped coil method for signal drive, but I will still need a delay pulse. How wide I guess I could find by cut and try, but if you have info it would give me a place to start from. Like I explained the Nanos are just for the slower things, and the real meat is in the detection circuits, where speed and accuracy are essential. I have a circuit designed for that part, but have not built it yet, because I need to set some parameters first. All help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dusty Carl

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Carl,

Unfortunately there is no real formula for your delay. If you have a scope, you can see about timing the TX coil field collapse. It is way too short to do it by eye. Once you have that determined, you then need to see how long your target field eddy currents are active. Normally much shorter than the TX collapse. Empirical measurement is your only other option if you don't have a scope.

If you have the means, I would suggest a Hantek combination scope and logic analyzer like this one:

Make certain you do not look for a better price and get one without the logic analyzer in it. You will be amazed at how easy your design work becomes when you start using this. Not only that but you can screen capture your measurements and post them here when you need help. I sent one to Xavier a couple of years ago and he couldn't believe how much he was missing until he could actually see things in real time and store them when he needed. Occasionally, he would send me a screen capture and we would discuss issues.

Dang. Nice Scope.   Dang you GD !  Now I want one.  Banker Wicked Wanda the Wonder Wife gives Nod of head in approval !   Shocked  Order will be in by end of day.

Not sure what your planing to do without the Damping Resistor.

How are you planing on loosing the Fly Back ?
Balanced Coils?
Fly back Diode ?
Let it Ring ?

You only have some 10uS before Small Gold Target diminishes.

I'm fairly certain Xavier is no longer using his. Contact him. A Ouija Board would be helpful. Might take him a while to get to the post office.

I know. I'm not going to heaven if I keep that up. Wink

I am a PIC processor guy and using a 32 in my PI detector design. also like your star ship coils designs. I never thought of using a Rodin star ship coil as a metal detector before. Shocked
will you share your CCT designs theory and concepts.
