Since am considering biting the bullet and joining you swingers this year to see what the fuss is all about , figured i should add a link from my neck of the woods , if by chance you should fall upon any old Scottish coinage, if not then some light reading is to be had.

Welcome! Some of us have gone from detecting to prospecting and now do both. You'd be a first going from prospecting to the "dark side!"

The learning curve is short but the pain in your legs from kneeling/standing/kneeling/standing takes a few days to overcome.

Its all part of my day job , knelling / standing as bad as that sounds.

But there is a Jacobean battle site less than a mile away of which i wish to play about in the surrounding area. Especially the the defeated fleeing party.
Plus on a hunch , 2nd Eagle Battalion (Roman) is a fleeting thought on route , considering only 3 access points to the North of Scotland , as remaining area was marshland / peatbog.

I know, Xavier. These guys over in Europe have it so great with ancient human movements going back thousands of years.

Great article.   And joining "the dark side" is wise.  It is called "diversification".

Makes me envious to tell you the truth, if things were simpler I would go to Europe every year for six months just for the detecting and the discovery of history and possibly some geography too
