What Really Happened To The Metal Detecting Industry

      There has been a lot of closing of doors, and merging of companies within the metal detector industry during the last ten or 15 years,  and a lot of that is because technology has become so commonplace that experimenters making specialised machines can create better and more sensitive machines than people tied into creating an inventory of already purchased parts.  The PCBs coming out the Russian Federation are allowing even the hobbyist electronics technician to create custom machines for their particular areas, of very great sensitivity.  Modifications and handmade equipment are becoming the norm among the dedicated types, or even just the types who possess electronics gifts not really understood by most people.  That last is not me, by any means, I am a plain soldering hack, but some of the kids are almost scary in their abilities to intuit electronic circuitry.

     I am working on two Pulse Inductions now, and they will be to my specifications and they will have a rare beauty, the look and feel of things that last a long time.  Durability.  Because I have collected many parts over time, from used detectors at flea markets and the like, I already have coils that will work, ready made and wired and tested, and wands and arm rests and all that.  My cash outlay will be about 40 dollars per machine and I expect them to outperform anything I am able to get otherwise.

     Thats what really happened to the metal detecting industry.
