We've just moved home to south Wales and were looking forward to a spot of detecting on the fabulous Gower beaches. Are there any specific areas where detecting is not permitted or permission from somebody is required. Sorry if this has been asked before, we're newbies to this forum aswell as to Wales. Smiley

Welcome to the Forum.   You folks over there have some of the worlds richest history at your feet.   Also some somewhat restrictive laws.

Thank you for the welcome and all the advice. As I understand it then if you metal detect between high water mark and low water mark, i.e. foreshore ,that is owned by Crown estates all ok. What about metal detecting on beaches above the high water mark? Is that local council controlled or county council?
