A few of you may remember my posts where I mentioned me using the VibraProbe while detecting. I love mine, and use it always. I have also been asked if it can detect gold. Yes it can. I have also been asked as to what is the smallest piece of gold it can detect. So, I got some gold nuggets together and recorded the results in an open air test. Just remember that a pinpointer is not a substitute for a metal detector unless you enjoy crawling around on your hands and knees and enjoy digging targets under 3 inches deep.

RESULTS:

Grams.             inches

 .3.                      .375
 .4.                      .500
 .5.                      .500
 .6.                      .625
 .8.                      .750
1.1.                     .875
1.3.                     .875
1.7.                     1.00

Zinc penny.       1.50
copper penny.   1.50
5 cents.              1.50
Dime.                  1.50
Quarter.              1.625
Hope this helps someone.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Every tool has hits place. The Vibraprobe is at home on land or sea. Up to 100 ft under water. No external switches or controls, and no tuning, plus it is pulse induction, so beach sands don't bug it, nor does vlack sand. The The Falcon has better depth but you don't need that if you dig the hole deep enough. Like I have said before ponpointers are not good prospecting tools. They are an addendum to a metal detector.

Thanks Dusty That's an impressive report, they make some great pin pointers for sure, I like the Idea of it being a real under water detector and to me that puts it above all others from my point of view and the price is first class for such quality.

Thanks again Dusty Top Job Mate.

Thanks. Here is the pile they came out of. See if you can find them. Before you ask, that's a total of a half troy oz. The largest one weighs 1.3 grams, but the heaviest weighs 1.8 grams. Can you find it? the two smallest do not register on my digital scale even together. They both weigh .03 grams
