I woke up on the other end of a 12ft room.  Felt Great for the next few days.  DO NOT RECOMEND repeating the experiment.   LOL!  30,000 Volts

Homefire: Your analogy of the lake was awesome.

I think I'm going to go with buying 4 of those tiny 12 volt 1/2AA batteries and line them up in parallel to allow more of the "flow". or 4 1/2AA 6 volt batteries and put 2 in series in parallel to 2 more in series. whichever gives me more amp hours. Or w/e.

Let me know how that doesn't work out for you.

Have you not been reading and understanding this discussion? Forget the analogies. Those are just for getting a mental image, not for designing a power supply. The setup you describe here might not even fire up your detector never mind last more than 5 minutes before going dead on you.

If you really don't know what you are doing and don't care, press on.

Hey GD. That reminds me of an old adage
: "Fools tread where wise men fear to go."  Grin

Feeling a little unsettled, I suppose I have no choice but to go with the bulky power supply of 8 AAs...

Would you care to delve further? Would you have any advice to help solve my issue of size capacity, instead of berating me? All that sentence has done is almost illicit a negative emotional response. It is imperative I find the smallest power source that will supply 12 volts, while retaining enough amperage to last longer than 5 minutes. I understand an A27 battery has a mere fraction of amperage as compared to an AA. I am not a fool. I am slightly willing to go with the smaller battery package and sacrifice usage time. I plan to tour on a motorbike and every cubic inch of space on my bike is IMPORTANT! I don't plan on using the thing for more than 10 minutes at a time anyway.

The age of a repeated adage doesn't make it universally correct. 'The adventurous tread where the meek fear to go' would be better suitable, as this life is an illusory experience. It takes uncommon sense to swim through the sea of (insert word of a not so positive orient). Though I admit the A27 battery idea was something that wasn't the smartest; wishful thinking on my part.

If all you want is less wieght and size, why not just go to 8 AAA batteries? Same voltage, less wieght, less size, will still operate the detector, just not as long.
