From the land of the Bluenose.....I was just crowned Pope Leslie the First and everyone was teeing off down Quinpool Rd with snow drifts at least six feet high on each side of the road. As the golf balls were struck they immediately turned into a comet with a fireball head and sparks flying behind. I blessed each ball before it was struck and they looked up at me and sang the first few lines from Ophus's song "Life is Life." I fell to my knees in a pool of blue jello and gave thanks.
Who needs drugs or booze when you can just eat a can of kippers in hot sauce before you adjourn for the night....then the phone rang. "Do you want to work today as Gillis phoned in sick?" In a nano second no errupted from my lips and I was up for the day. A mighty fine one I might add and by 8am I was "enlightened" and on my way to Devil's Hill Battery which is part of the York Redoubt fort chain. The redoubt is off limits being a federal park but the Devil's Hill Battery has been turned into a municipal park and is fair game for a dig. Man it is a tough spot to do as the place has buried cars and a ton of iron scattered over the interior of the battery. The surrounding woods are thick so you have to watch yourself as there are drops and and swamps surrounding the place.

Local artists have given the place quite the "once over."

Was hoping to find a few military items but to no avail. The view however was awesome on this clear unseasonably warm Nova Scotian day.

Finds were few and no 50 coin day for this bouy but did manage 2 dog tags, golf ball and 21 coins @ $1.29. At least I got out!

Have the feeling however that there is still some goodies here given the right frame of mine to hunt this trashy area!
