Sergio,
Welcome to the forum. While you are waiting for answers here, jump on over to the newcomers board, then introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself. You will boost your # of posts, and that will allow you to be able to download from the download section and upload photos of your detector finds. I am not into the Atmega chips so I can not give you a definitive answer, but I do know you won't be able to burn a hex file written for one chip into a different chip. You must have the original C or Assembly file, make corrections for the different chip, making sure you are running at the same speed as the one you are replacing. Just because they have more or less memory does not mean they have all the same features. 8-bit programs do not transfer very well to 32 bit controllers.
Enjoy the forum.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.
