I took 2 detectors on the plane with me on the week of 9-11. I had gone from Denver to Chicago and was due to fly home on 9-11! I finally got to leave on 9-17, and I was sure they were going to reject me from flying with 2 metal detectors in my carry on luggage. There was no hassle what so ever. I have since flown 3 times with detectors as carry on and have never had any questions or problems at all.

Cool, yeah thats amazing you didnt have any problems at that time. My next trip will be in october to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to help Habitat For Humanity with rebuilding, providing I can get enough sponsors to do it. Foiled

So is the detector somehow related to the rebuilding or is i just for some detecting during your free time? I don't know if you are familiar with slave tags, but if not, you should study up on them prior to your trip. Not only are they very collectible, but each one found could put someone closer to finding their family history or history in general. I get envious when I see people displaying one or two they've found on a hunt. Regardless of your circumstances, enjoy your hunt and good luck finding some treasure.

The detector is just for free time if I make it down there they usually work 6-2 or 8-4 I have worked Saturdays for them already. Thanks for the advice, do you have any links to websites that discuss these? Foiled

Hey Foiled glad you had a good trip. I can only imagine the scenery there. I can't blame you for wanting to move.

Thanks SpringTxDigger it was awesome Im looking at getting land around Talkeetna between Denali and Anchorage land is cheaper around there. In my opinion the scenery is much nicer between Homer and Anchorage but land is more down that way for the most part. I will be about 20-30 miles from the nearest town (Talkeetna and Wasilla).Foiled
Its not that much colder than where Im at now maybe 20 to 30 degees colder it was an average of about 65 degrees while I was there where it was about 85-90 here. It was 70 when we got there and about 60-65 when we left.Foiled

It might be beautiful and comfortable now, but my poor southern bones catch a mighty chill just thinking about the temps there between early November and late March/early April

Those temps sound pretty good. It's been averaging around 96 around here with feel like temps in the 106 range due to the humitidy. So I'm thinking 65 sounds pretty nice!
