Hi,
Yes there are some weird things happening on this.
I was trying to find where 1254 AAFBU were actually stationed in 1945.
It's an impossibility for some reason.
There are U.S. gov. sites that list practically all other units but as soon as you look for 1254 suddenly you get kicked off or no connection.
And there does not seem to be very much at all on the web in general.
Xavier has noticed this too.
One very strange anomoly is a site that lists all c47's and what happened to them.
Our particular aircraft is listed as going missing on a flight between CASABLANCA and JOHANNASBURG (No wreckage ever found) on the date in question! NOT where it was supposedly lost!
Of course this could just be an error BUT the enthusiasts who run these sites are in general very very thorough with their facts.
The information likely as not came from the military and perhaps "slipped through"
It might be interesting to see if there are any of the military "search party" personnel still around?
If, as reported there were 500 of them then maybe a few are still with us?
Perhaps get a clearer picture of where they were searching.
I think there is a lot more than meets the eye on this one....
