Hi,
Yes there are some weird things happening on this.
I was trying to find where 1254 AAFBU were actually stationed in 1945.
It's an impossibility for some reason.
There are U.S. gov. sites that list practically all other units but as soon as you look for 1254 suddenly you get kicked off or no connection.
And there does not seem to be very much at all on the web in general.
Xavier has noticed this too.
One very strange anomoly is a site that lists all c47's and what happened to them.
Our particular aircraft is listed as going missing on a flight between CASABLANCA and JOHANNASBURG (No wreckage ever found) on the date in question! NOT where it was supposedly lost!
Of  course this could just be an error BUT the enthusiasts who run these sites are in general very very thorough with their facts.
The information likely as not came from the military and perhaps "slipped through"

It might be interesting to see if there are any of the military "search party" personnel still around?
If, as reported there were 500 of them then maybe a few are still with us?
Perhaps get a clearer picture of where they were searching.
I think there is a lot more than meets the eye on this one....

Yes Paul you are quite correct about things being blocked or simply vanishing from the net but I'm sure that we will get a lucky break soon.

HI All    I think Paul has made a good point about the search party with the 500 military personal
this could be a good lead. Unless it was just a cover up!  Cool

The only way that I can see that could be worth while is by broadcasting a message on the radio asking for any one that took part in the search because I don't even have one name to go by and as it is with name, rank and serial number  I"m finding it hard to get info so with no names well sound near impossible to me.

Xavier, the odds get slimmer every year of finding anyone left who was on the search. With your luck, you'll find a spry, quick thinking fellow only to realize that he was the cook or the cleaner in the squadron. That's a dead end, I fear.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Grin Yep but it's the butler that normally knows most of whats going on in a house as he gets to hear most things so perhaps the cook got to hear all their theories.    Cheesy
