Not to sound like a conspiracy nut, but, I wouldn't be surprised if they are intentionally making some of these folks on tv look like idiots and nuts, just so they can say "see, this is why we are stopping the public from digging around public lands".  Some of these guys on TV (like the gold miners) are ........ not your typical prospector/miner/treasure hunters.

Im not advising for anyone to break the law - but - I'm pretty sure that law, if it was taken to the supreme court, would be found unconstitutional.

Between the bunch of us, I'm not sure I can count on the Supreme Court anymore.   They seem to have developed a penchant over the years of making the law AND the Constitution say what they want it to say --- even if what they say it says flies in the face of what is clearly written.   But then I'm not a lawyer, so I can't possibly know what the definition of "SHALL", "SHALL NOT", "NO", or even "IS" is.

I hear ya. I had a big discussion with some officials several years ago - the county had a meeting with the BLM because the BLM wanted to implement a "horizon to horizon" corridor for "preservation. (and that clearly included my home and business, as well as others). BLM said, we were all "owners", us of the private lands, them, of the public lands.  I could not stand for that comment - I stood up and told them, in NO uncertain terms, that the BLM OWNED NOTHING.  It clearly almost started a riot at the meeting, as, everyone there agreed with what I had said. BLM's response - meeting closed.

Mrs.O

PS:  They did not get their "horizon to horizon" declaration

Somehow, half of my post went missing.  Its a good thing the Supreme court, right now, is almost split down the middle. Its never a good thing when it is heavily conservative or heavily liberal. (a small pat on the back to the Supreme Court decision that allowed DC to own firearms, and deciding that WE the people ARE the militia.

I'm not sure that we could tell with that lawsuit.  If it is found one way, the republicans will think its bought off, if it is found the other way, democrats will think its bought off, imo.  It's just a matter of HOW you think it should be decided. The Supreme Court has done some really good stuff, and some really crappy stuff, but, I do like that they are pretty evenly split, with one judge, in particular, not usually ruling by political standards - he actually reads the constitution when he rules.  Cheesy

That's the Problem!

It seems no one can read the 6th grade English the Constitution was Written in.

Homefire,

Sadly, you are 100% right. To me, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" is quite clear English.  We certainly can't depend on dems to follow the constitution, and, we cannot depend on republicans either (or the NRA, even though I am a lifetime member,  they have "caved" on so many things, I don't trust them either).

Part of the problem, imo only, is that both parties, and all politicians, pick and choose which amendment they are for.  And, so it is with the citizenry.  Everyone wants free speech - as long as they can control what you cannot say (PC).  Everyone "believes" in the constitution, just so long as it agrees with everything they want.

Just about the ONLY right that we still have intact - is the fourth amendment - so far, we are not quartering soldiers in our homes - other than that, there is NONE that are respected - or fought for - anymore. (by the politicians or citizenry - our soldiers are the exception)

Sad, sad, sad.

Mrs. O

Last count we have 11 States enacting Law saying the Federal Government is NOT the BoSS!

They are waking up slow but sure.

Standing up for our Sovereign Rights, they have said Enough is Enough.

This Crap of a New Internal Army Called the Homeland Security is scaring the shit out of folks.

1.6 Billion rounds of ammo,  7,200 M-16's for self defence?  2,700 Armored Vehicles?

All the News is the Government is Broke but they can afford this stuff!

You can't find ammo in Wal-Mart the day after it gets in.

Gee?   Wonder Why?

Just because the states say something doesn't mean the fed will listen. They are notorious for ignoring what they don't like. What I like is they say how they are doing the HS thing for everyones good, yet I don't remember a time when things were this bad.
