low dollar item but pretty, the stones cut overseas (it shows) but are real and untreated....this may gain value over time....came out of ground bright and shiny, perhaps a decent plating job....b

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Thank you for writing.   When I found it I had a feeling it had been thrown on purpose, but who knows?  At best it is a heavy rhodium plate....no marks of purity whatsoever, it is plated, heavy, the stones are peridot most likely from san carlos out in az, they hit big strike 10 or so years ago, people out there were selling 1 gallon ziplox full of stones just like these for cheap cheap like 200 for whole bag, cut like this....the undersides of the stones are only rough ground not polished so that tells you something right there, someone may have paid big money for it but they were taken to the cleaners...it was on a lot where there had been a house.  I will definitely save it for a future sweetie carl!!

yep, we've got some great peridot deposits.  Unfortunately for most of us, almost all of the gem quality deposits are on the San Carlos Apache Reservation and can only be mined by Native Americans.  Currently close to 95% of the world's peridot production comes from that reservation.
