The ground balance and discrimination work together in this circuit. If you adjust one you might have to adjust the other to get the same results. Or so it appears. The two mix together to get the final result. Other controls are sensitivity and threshold. No volume control but is controlled by the threshold. If the threshold breaks you get sound. But no way to turn the volume up and down. I can see it could use some improvements, but for simplicity its ok. I am sure it will work just fine but I think it will tire you out trying to keep it locked. But again it does have auto tune. You can easily add a volume control if you desire. I would be interested to see just how well it performs. Oh to answer your question it is receiving at 10 KHz
