does anyone have a handy site or has anyone had any success in such a conversion, or do i just have to much time on my hands, your advice is wanted.

My detecting buddy made one and it works pretty good. He has been using it for about 5 years. All he had to do was install a small pvc pipe and glue the coil wire to a pipe cap.

The one he made is similar to this one:

I tried it couple times, couldn' get to work very good, i can't solder them little things, if ya was good at radio-kinda solderin it would probly work purty good

Bugar; Those tiny wires are hard to work with. Maybe next time just clean the varnish off the ends and tie them in a knot. Should still work, I have done this in the past with different things.
