Yep, Quartz and Granite!  Go for the spots with the most of that cool Rust stained Quartz.   Yep, That's what I would do.    Grin

I think I would take home a few and pop them open.  Quatz rocks that is.

I'm thinking, homey, that you stopped by the convenience store on your way home!  LOL! Grin

I've crushed some up on several occasions and got some gold out, but it's a lotta work. I keep thinking about building a little stamp mill but my project list is pretty long... course if the price keeps rising I might bump it up the lis

Have you ever used a microscope on the crushed stuff?

I use a loupe, but usually it's visible to the eye even. I use a drop of mercury to collect all the micro fine stuff, I'll look at it later. Smiley

I do have a microscope somewhere so I'll have to try that sometime

Nice quartz samples by the way, now to figure out where they are coming down from Smiley

I bought a 10X magnifying glass Sat. at Harbor Freight in Boise for $1.99.  Its got a fish-eye effect so not any good for what I need.  So far I haven't found a place in Boise that has microscopes, other than kid stuff.  I called Vista Pawn and they put me on eternal hold...haha.

Give me your address.     I will send you the front end of a Rifle scope that works most well.

Okletsee, check in the yellow pages or business directory for a scientific supply outlet or store.  The will have all kinds of science tools and optics.  My daughter-in-law used to work in one in Portland, and I'm bettng Boise has one too!   Wise

I ordered a microscope on line that is a dual purpose compound/stereo.  You can light up your specimen from the bottom, or from the top for viewing material you can't see thru.  I didn't find anything in town I liked.
