so this is where the uk searchers hide !! hi all. . . im a newbie to this sort of thing. . but been reading lots of info etc. . . ive found this site ( been told it could be iron age !! ). . . a pic is below. . ( i think ). . any more ideas or views would be good. . and also any info on how to approach land owner etc and what to do with finds ( keep or share ) etc. if anything. . many thanks

One thing for certain is that there is probably some serious archaeology below that circle so you could be destroying any real historical evidence if you aren't careful. Assure the land owner that if you should find anything of significance, you will inform the authorities and him as required by law.

To be honest with you, based on the apparent size of the area, even 1000 detecorists working there wouldn't be able to clean it out for years. Focus on getting permission and have a wander. Don't worry about others being there. In fact, you may find that it's already a well known spot.

I can't tell you the number of times I've been told that hundreds of people have already detected an area so don't waste my time. A careful search always turns up more goodies. The fact that others have searched there should please you if you find out that's the case. It means there are still goodies remaining for you.

It does look like an iron age site and a site of great interest to the archie's. Be careful you don't get in a jam with the government on this.

Yep, you'll likely as not find it's well known about and probably (if not definately) a protected site.......
