Hi, Mona.   Welcome back.   Georgia's a fascinating place full of history.  I'm sure by now you've worked through most of the maps that LabradorBob posted for the state.   Some of them should be good leads for you.   Remember the basics (i.e. what to look for when you are trying to find a site) are the same everywhere.    And like GD keeps telling people, the strip of land between the sidewalk and the street is public right of way (but not worth argueing over if someone objects).    Lots of people lose money getting in and out of cars and carriages.
