Hello Everyone .

Is this the New "Game Changer for Metal Detectors" in 2020 ??  Just thought I would share the news about Garrett's Brand New Metal Detector.

Not sure if its available yet ? From what I read , it sounds pretty impressive . 5,10,15 and 20 KHZ . With selectable two frequencies at a Time ?

A great price Too , with option of wireless headphones. Just thought I would share this. Anyone try this New Detector yet ?

Best Wishes and Everyone Please Stay Safe !!!

Eugene

I haven't got my hands on one yet, although I am considering upgrading the wife to one of these.  I also know that the folks at Garrett were surprised by how many orders they have already received for them.  I do have a contact with someone who is running tests on them.  I'll let you know if I hear anything from him one way or another.

I am thinking for one also, but I need to know if it will work on
dry sand/wet SALTY sand/black sand, and back again before I commit.
when the AT first was out I call Garrett and ask the question.
they told me to look at the SeahunterII, which I all ready had and happily using for many years.
my friend got one, needless to say never been able to use it successfully on Melbourne's sandy beaches(lots of Black sand)

Nickel_n, with that range of operating frequencies it should work everywhere even in your car's back seat. Wink

The cordless headphone feature would sell me. What's the MSRP on the unit?

Hello GD.

Garrett Website says MSRP in US Dollars is $579.95 for the Apex Wireless headphone package. And I saw one of the Big Box Metal Detector.com sites had it for $499.00 Us dollars. They need to be Pre-ordered, since they are not in stock yet !!

Best Regards and Stay Safe !!!

I can tell you from experience that the z-link wireless system is good.  I've got it built into my AT-Max and use the wireless headphones. An added benefit is that my Garrett pinpointer uses the same z-link technology which means I don't ever have to take off my headset.
Mrs B.A. uses the Garret's wireless adapter with her favorite corded headphones in order to be essentially cord-free using  her White's Sierra Super Trac-----and yes, I have successfully paired her Z-link transmitter with my Garrett headset while using the transmitter with my Tesoro Vaquero.
Unless my Garrett rep comes back with a less than stellar report I'll be getting her the detector for Christmas....mostly for the weight.

Hey All,

I can't believe it.....after all the grief Mrs B.A. has given me over the years about buying detectors, she was actually delighted to receive the new Garrett Ace Apex for her birthday (November 27th).  She has only used it twice, so she is still in the early stages of the learning curve, but so far she seems to like it a lot----especially when she sets it in multi-frequency mode.  She was even happy to get the brand new "Ripper" coil as a Christmas present, even though she hasn't had an opportunity to try that one out.  Given that most of the areas we hunt are extremely trashy, I'm sure the Ace Apex with the "Ripper" attached will soon be her favorite detector/coil combo---especially if she starts finding jewelry.   Her first "major" find was the face place for a bank box (safety deposit box) from a bank that was only in business for about 9 years (December 1904 -- July 1913).   Seems there were a few irregularities involving the the head teller (who wound up in jail) and also one of the bank presidents a few years later who got sued by bank investors for "misrepresentation".    Two years later the state was trying to collect back taxes from the share holders for the period between March 1913 and July 1913.   Needless to say, I am researching some of the names involved.
We will update you with more info on the Apex as she (and I) spend more time using her new detector.
