I've been using them for longer than that, but I can't say I've had mine for longer.   When my Dad died last year, his key ring had a P-38 on it.   I'm pretty sure it was the same one that he was using in 1960 when he was in Dharan, and probably the same one he had when he went through basic in 1954.

As for the P-38 tail section.....if ffinder doesn't want to use it for wall art, it could also make a neat coffee table with a piece of plexiglass laid over it.

I still have the very first p38 i got during basic training.  It's on my key ring and was with me all
30 + years I served. And I still carry it with me on my key ring to this day.

I can't recall the last time I actually used it. But I don't leave home with out it.
