Does any body know what this is? I found this in a corn field. I found two musket balls in the same area.

Maybe a Trigger Guard or a band that goes around a musket?

The swedge on the rivet is pulled through something so definitely a "part of". Trigger guard as you say might be it. I'm sure the experts here will chime in.

I am thinking its a brass band used on trade knifes and axes in the mid to late 1700 but its not all there.
