C-Scope (derived from "candlescope" as they made equipment to check eggs) is one of the oldest British detector companies but its products in the U.S.A. were always sold under the "Newforce" name.
The error re Discovery came about as they licensed the circuit technology from the Discovery SST range to produce the CS 8SST and a very cut down version of the Treasure Baron which could not be upgraded. The name escapes me at the moment but essentially it was a plastic cased Treasure Baron base unit with a Pro Hunter unit built in. Not as good as a Discovery Treasure Baron plus Pro Hunter unit but a fraction of the price.
C-Scope and Whites also shared the design and appearance of the Discovery hoardhunter but as the Discovery version was always ahead of C-Scope and Whites in features, I assume theirs was the original design.

Just to add to the confusion with C-Scope you could read a fieldtest or report on a U.S. site then buy the detector off E-Bay and find you have not got the detector you expected as the same names were used for different designs.
The CS4ZX in the States had an I.D. meter. The British version didn't but was a hybrid combining a standard motion design with an Arado type primary search mode for maximum depth with a ferrous/non ferrous analogue meter. Two detectors in one with three operating frequencies.
