Go Up Go Down

HI everybody, I'm new at this so I hope I do it correctly!  I have a bunch of coins I have found/collected over the years and just now starting to take a closer look at them to see what I have.  There is a wide variety from a nickel that is sealed in plastic to a Walker half dollar so old, can only make out an 8 as the last number of the date, so sad!  However tonight I am looking for some information on 2 Mercury dimes that I have. They are 1942 & 1944 no mint mark. From what I have already been able to gather, they were minted in Pennsylvania,  due to no mint mark, the 1942 is not double struck 1941. 1942 is in very fine condition and 1944 slightly less.  I happened upon an article on the WA which is the designers initials, however, each article states that it can be found on the reverse between the ONE and the base of the battle weapon, but mine are lcoated on the front, just to the right of the neck line.  Does this mean anything?

Thank you from muggy Massachusetts!  The 1942 also says " In COD WE Trust"!  Ever heard of that?

The battle weapon? I presume you mean the bundle of 13 sticks which represent the original 13 colonies. Individually, the sticks can be broken but United We Stand is the symbolic message on the dime's obverse. And FYI, though commonly called the Mercury Dime, the face is actually a winted Liberty which bears a resemblance to the god Mercury.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
