Hi Guys
A short while ago a member was asking how to preserve old metallic objects so I thought that I would post my way of doing it. After having left the item in distilled water for a few weeks, changing the water every two days I place it in my electrolysis bath using a solution of bicarbonate of soda and water. Once I'm satisfied with the way the item looks I rinse it then dry it thoroughly, and rub some wax onto it, I then take my blow torch (I use the one from my gas soldering iron) and heat it up. Another way that I do it is by placing the item in a bath of melted wax. Although this is not the optimum way of doing this it dose prevent further rusting.
Regards
