Go Up Go Down

My wife and I are sort of in a bad situation. Her parents are really old, and very stubborn. After many phone calls pleading with them, they still won't evacuate, and they live in an RV park in one of those 'park unit' trailers. They're in a small town about 1/2 hr drive east of Ft. Myers FL, (yeah, I know pretty scary)! And still they won't bug out! Anyway, we have our hopes up that all goes well for them.

They're adults, and this is their decision, and we can't force them to evacuate by any means. So, we just have to wait until it's over and hope that they pull through this. I'm sure there may be others down there that are making the same decision, so it's not like they're the only people that think that it's just going to be alright. Perhaps some of you have loved ones that are down there in the same situation and our thoughts goes out to those too.

V/R,
zul

Sounds like what I would do.  Lived in Florida for three years.  Went through two hurricanes.  ROCKED AND ROLLED.  Then we got our butts handed to us with a little Tropical storm that did three times the damage the hurricanes did.

One thing I wasn't aware of that the father in-law told me is that the anchors for the park unit are four feet down, and there's 24 of them bolted to the frame of the trailer. And that it's about three feet off the ground. So, if it does flood at least they'll be clear the first couple of feet. However, as you know campers, and trailers aren't built to withstand 100+ MPH winds so all that would be left might just be the floor and that's it. We'll see. Apparently it's almost there now.

Thanks for the kind thoughts.

I never understood the fascination of living on a coast line unless you could do it Mobil some how.

First Harvey, then Irma and Jose next. This is like a month long disaster movie that won't end.

Just got a Code Red message (21:10) from the City of Venice that they think a major water line let go somewhere and they are shutting down the water treatment plant. No one can go look for the break(s) until the storm is gone.

Hey Knight are your wife's parents in Alva? That's 1/2 hour east of Ft. Myers. My buddy has a trailer at Oak Park Village and I just got back from there. The eye went right over Alva. His trailer park is messed up. Several trailers lost their roof but many survived without any damage. Here are a couple pics of the damage.

 I can't upload images!
