Camp Cody is a retired base, not an active one. From the late frontier days - early 1900s..

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Indeed, and FYI, New Mexico didn't become a state until 1917. Until then, it was a territory.

So is there a star on the Stars and Stripes for NM, The reason I ask is because I was told that there was a Star for Every State in the US ??

Sorry GD. It was 1912.   I found a Canadian 1912  5 Cent silver peace at Camp Cody on that same day in 2012.   I posted the woopy do here some place.

There certainly is. All 50 stars are there. But, as a matter of interest to most, any and all flags of the US can be flown legally. As long as they were an official flag, you can fly any number of stars with the 13 stripes which are for the original 13 states.

Of course. My bad. That's what I get for trusting a memory that learned the date when I was in 5th grade.

So is Alaska the 49th State and Hawaii the 50th State ?? Which Is why people refer to most of the US as the Lower 48 ??
