Oh right, I guess over the years Bases change so much you would not know if you were digging on an old firing range from WWII or earlier.

FT.Campbell KY. And Ft. Lee VA .  Are both prime examples  of  just that.

Can you imagine one of your kids coming in and saying "hey daddy look what I found"  Shocked

and even though they had mine sweeper back then they were not as good as a walmart detector is now,

There building  new housing area's  on Ft . Campbell  now and still
digging  up old ordnance . 

The old drop  range is now a  housing area.  Shocked

I know out in the bush when your gold prospecting you tend to dig a heck of a lot of bullets, So I should imagine detecting on a range would be a nightmare, theres only so many bullets a person would want to dig up in a day, it wouldn't be so bad if they were all different sizes,
