A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Sorry to hear about the Truck, That can choke them up, and in that heat you can't go walking far, You need something long and Tall with plenty of Ice In It,

did you finish the Truck, or have you got more to do??

I think I  have it fixed. It took a while can of chlorinated brake cleaner to clean out the plug, so am doing a drive cycle run to see if the code comes back. I have my own OBDII meter, so I  can check it while I 'm driving. Great tool to have. I'll get back atcha when it's done. Thanks for asking. Then I  will grab that long and tall iced filled drink and drink 2 or 3  of them.

I have two. One that can only be used with the engine not running and one that uses BlueTooth to my phone and can be used on the road. The first kind is so absolutely incredible in testing that it has a 40 page book of faults and a web page for translating it to your exact vehicle. The latter records my data so I can review it after I stop driving.

I wouldn't do without either of them. Fantastic tools. Either of them can reset a fault code when necessary.

My old Ford van you could short out two pins on the connector and the ENGINE light would Blink out the Numbers.   You could look them up from the Manual.

I tested my 4x4 with my one of these and when we hooked it up to a computer it then printed out about 30 or 40 pages of info,  Shocked

My thoughts on this Gizmo are still undecided.

I find that the Codes only give you a ball park Idea.   If you go the Black Box Replacement way you could go broke before you find the $2.00 part that did it.

That's True,

My one kept saying the Codes and Multi Cylinder misfire - Low Fuel so I replaced the Fuel Filter then a New Fuel Pump and Filter and The Air Filter Then The Fuel Injectors etc, then I tested it again and it said the Same Fault Codes Again, So I dug out My  Trusty Snap On Compression Tester and I had 225 psi per Cylinder except One That was reading 137 psi and As I first Thought, It was A Bent Valve, yet I new it all along and Land Rover had No Idea, I spent about $1000 Plus and still no one had a Clue,

I trained as A Proper Mechanic back in the Late 80s, Not as one of these Plug and Play Jockeys we Have Now, And I should Of Done it my way in the Beginning My 4x4 would have been on the road a lot Sooner, Everything was new on that thing in fact it had Over $4000 by its previous owner because they Kept it in Tip Top Condition,

It was because of all the lies these so called mechanics told me which is why I bought that Gizmo and that did not do the Job either, Like I said I should of Trusted my Own Knowledge,

Yes,
The scan tool told me what the symptom was, but it was up to me to figure what was causing it. I cheated a little on the second part. I first went to YouTube, and looked up videos on how to fix that code number. After looking at several, I narrowed it down to 4 suspects. 3 were parts and one a condition. The parts were the easiest to test. Found 1 bad part, replaced it. Still same problem. Assumed it was the condition, talked to a trusted mechanic, and he verified my assumption, then suggested a simple fix of which I  tried, and it did the trick. I put the part that tested bad back in, and the code reappeared. So if you have carbon plugged up passages in your intake manifold, chlorinated brake cleaner will get it out, albeit make take a little while but just keep at it and it will work.
