A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Well  congrats  to  BA.   Clapp

The closest  one to me that  I  know  of is in  Nashville .
I'm not  driving  that far for a meeting  it's  about  an hour for me to get there and the traffic  headache
isn't  worth  it .  Wish we had  one closer .

Now my pedal  car group  only meets once a year and that turns  into  more of  a  vacation  than a meeting .

Start one. I suggest you go to your local Craig's list and place a free ad to start a group. Or do it on Facebook. There are tons of local groups here in CT. Tennessee must have a fair few of them too. You can join them easily enough and see if there's any interest. Who knows? They might even name it after you.

Around  here people  don't  like  to  share .  Afraid  of  giving  away  their  favorite  civil  war  sites  etc.
it's  cool  though  I'm  not  as mobile  as I use to be. So I come here to  see  everyone's  finds.

Here the clubs work as a group to approach a local government to get special, one day permission to hunt heritage sites overseen by the local historical society. All kinds of Revolutionary War articles and coinage turn up that would otherwise never see the light of day. Homeowners often contact the club or its members to give their yard a once or twice over. The club has its uses. It's really pointless to protect your sites like that unless you can turn invisible. People see you working unless you wear Harry Potter's cloak.

It doesn't  bother  me  I go when  I  can  and  when  I  feel  good  enough  to  go.
glad to hear your club is doing well  and  working  with  the  historical  society etc.

Karl, If you can only get out once a month that's better then some can.  You always have Ruddy for a digger.
