Yeah, it's about our Superstitions.   "Legend of the Superstition Mountains" on the History channel.   From what I've seen its a rehash of every other show on the Superstitions that includes folks who are "close to solving it".   Even has black hand prints on rock walls---"That's a danger sign, shure enuff"

BA

yep that's  the  show . What's  your  thoughts  on  heart shapes  is that for real ?

Go Up Go Down

Well, I have read so many books, seen a movie, (Henry Fonda), hiked just about every trail, panned for gold, metal detected, searched for treasure signs, followed all the clues, ( None verifiable), spent 15 years at it (1973-1985), nearly lost my life twice, and all for nothing. No gold in the streams, none in the rock, only 3 places with mine tunnels did I find but only copper ore. They are looking for gold he supposedly killed some miners for, well maybe so, but the mines were not in the Superstitions. He spent a few years in the Wickenburg area at the Vulture mine. Plenty of theft of ore went on at that mine, and so much so, that Vulture city made it a crime, punishable by hanging. It is believed that Waltz was one of those "highgraders" and that is probably where the gold came from (if any) and his reason for making up a phony story and his quick departure soon after the enactment. There are many people who think he buried it somewhere near Wickenburg . Me, I gave up a long time ago to find real gold in streams of the Bradshaw Mountains. Oh just in case you are thinking about digging around in the Superstitions, you might be well advised not to. Some years ago, the federal government made it into a wilderness area, and no mining, prospecting, treasure hunting, digging, machines, or vehicles are allowed. Sorry. Somewhere I have a picture of the sign notifing the public as such. I will post it later.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Look at the show as entertainment and enjoy it. Don't let facts get in the way of fun. Oh, before anyone sees it, that was Glenn Ford in the movie. Congress made it into a wilderness area in 83, but you could get a special use permit. The catch was you really had to show proof there was gold there (samples), or proof that there was a treasure there (samples again). But if you couldn't prospect without a special use permit, how was one to bring back a sample? Later, they did away with that option in favor of no prospecting or treasure hunting by declaring the area as primitive. You can hike, or horseback ride. That would be fun as there isn't any gold there anyways.

Where was everbody Sunday? I know church don't last that long. It gets kinda creepy in here when you are by yourself, and  I thought about answering my own posts, but that's even creepier.

Some of us are in the clutches of yet another winter storm that has dumped another 8 inches on us. Not that we're counting any more. Spring is just a few days away now.
