Sounds almost right, except that I think you meant to say 8 AH not 8 MAH. Grin Plus the time would be 17.39 hours. Radio Shack has  the power plug and jack you need.

14 hours? Boy that's a lot of detecting time for one day unless say you are doing it over several days. A simpler way would be to buy 3 2200 packs and then put one in the detector, and the other 2 in your back pack, and change them out as you need them. You could also make each pack last longer by purchasing a 12 volt solar cell charger and a back pack attachment and hook the charger to the battery via an additional connector. The current capacity of the solar cell will determine how much longer you will get. A 12 volt 1/2 amp one should provide enough capacity to last a very long time.

Yes Sorry about that, its been a funny ole day, Well 17.39 hours that's more than enough, I can dig a lot of junk in that time while I am looking for nuggets, I will go next week and see what they have to offer,

Thanks Mate Your A Star.

You are most welcome RR. We are all here to help each other.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Yeah I got  A 12"x12" solar panel here and A 100watt panel Too but I might fit that one to My Caper when I get it, I might do what you said about the 3 packs But their voltage is only around 11.1 volts But I would like to get it up around 12.6 etc,,

Still Its winter here and there is no rush so I got a little while to kick it around, aye

Yes Mate I will,

Is it winter in Australia? It's winter here in Arizona. You must be in the states? A 60 watt should provide enough power. Here is a pix of what I did with my detector. There's a 12.6v 3.4 AH battery in the blue box plus a 1 Amp fast blow fuse.

The box was an old recipe box I got at the Goodwill thrift store for $1.00 US.  Kiss Shaft came from an old defunct Gardiner MD of the 60's.

Well it does the job very well, and a person can't complain about the price,

I think I will buy the battery first and then see if I can find one that fits.

Great idea. Makes sense. I used some long bolts to just go thru the shaft, a hex nut, then the box and a split lock washer and another nut. I think they were # 8 or 10mm bolts. Inside a covered the exposed hardware with some thin sheet metal shielding  I scavenged from an old defective switch mode power supply. The fuse is in an inline fuse holder. Connecting  wire is a rubber coated stranded wire such as used in old  type DVM's (not polyvinyl) Again scavenged.

Sorry, just helping a good friend of yours and mine. We'll be glad to move it over to another post. But we just got to have our nuclear blasters and lightning sticks to find crash sites. They are a part of it. Got carried away I guess. However it does say "EVEYTHING ELSE" Shocked
